Introduction:
    Welcome to my Tesla Coil Site.
    On this site you can find informations of my selfmade tesla coils.


          •What is a Tesla Coil?:

          A Tesla Coil is an air resonance transformer, which transforms
          low voltages to a very high voltage range with a high frequency
          In other words, it is a machine, which produces voltages up to millions of volts,
          which causes the air breakdown. The result are very nice sparks and strikes
          The sparks look very nice, they have colors from blue to purple.
          Since the output current is very low, it is not really lethal but dangerous.
          So keep an eye open ;)



    How do Tesla Coils work?
    First, you have to know, that there are different kinds of Tesla Coils:
    Spark Gap Tesla Coil (SGTC), Solid State Tesla Coil (SSTC), Dual Resonant Solid State Tesla Coil (DRSSTC), Vacuum Tube Tesla Coil (VTTC), etc. Since I only built Spark Gap Tesla Coils,
    you can only find informations about Spark Gap Tesla Coils on this site.
      Spark Gap Tesla Coil (SGTC)


    How do they work. It is not easy to explain, because it is a bit complicated.
    A SGTC has a few components:


      Highvoltage Transformer Supply, Capacitor, Spark Gap, Primary Coil, Secondary Coil, Toroid


    The Highvoltage Transformer charges up the capacitor. If the voltage is high enough, the spark gap will fire.
    So, Capacitor and Primary Coil are connected, which build up a resonant circuit. The resonant circuit should oscillate with (nearly) the same frequency like the secondary resonance frequency and creates a strong magnetic field. Now, during a cycle (While the current flows into the coil and back to the capacitor and again into the coil, etc. Until the energie in the capacitor is too low.),
    some of the energie is absorbed by the secondary coil. [...]
